This weekend, Kings Games hosted a first PA Regional of the season over at Infinite Quests. This event is particularly significant because it is the first major tournament since the October 1st bannings went into effect. So what decks dominated the field? Below you will find the top 8 deck lists from both Saturday and Sunday events.
On Saturday a total of 82 players participated in the tournament, playing 7 rounds of swiss cut to the top 8. Brent Yetter was the only undefeated player of the day, but he fell to the eventual winner Devan Scheib in the first round of top 8. Ryan Fee, who has been mostly playing Vs. System in recent months effortlessly made top 4 nevertheless. He then conceeded to Kevin Ferra, whom he defeated in the swiss rounds, so that Kevin would qualify for Nationals. In the other bracket, Scheib defeated Anthony Ling. As both players were now qualified, they chose not to play out the final match, splitting the prizes evently between them. Scheib ended up getting the match win.
On Sunday the attendance was slightly lower. 58 players meant a total of six rounds of swiss play. Brian Long was the only undefeated player for the day, while Joe Gentile rounded off the top 8 as the only player to make it with a 4-2 record. Dan Boyer, who is one of the most familiar figures on the North East Regional circle was among those who made the cut to the single elimination rounds. David Brent was the head judge both days. Brent is a level 3 Yu-Gi-Oh Rules judge who head-judged United States Nationals last year. I was doing scorekeeping. Special thanks go to Vicki and Bart Schneider, owners of Infinite Quests who provided a great tournament environment for the event and assisted us in many ways throughout the weekend.
